StreamProbe

CamCheck — Test Any IP Camera RTSP Stream

Paste your camera’s RTSP URL below and StreamProbe will connect from our servers to verify reachability, detect the video codec, resolution, and frame rate — with no software to install. The probe runs in seconds and never records or stores your video.

How it works

  1. Enter your RTSP URL. The URL format is rtsp://<ip>:554/<path> — check your camera manual or the brand guide below for the exact path.
  2. StreamProbe probes from our servers. We open a TCP connection to your camera, read the stream headers (codec, resolution, fps), and close the connection. No video is stored.
  3. Results appear instantly. You’ll see whether the stream is reachable, the video codec (H.264/H.265/MJPEG), resolution, and frame rate.

Brand-specific RTSP guides

Each brand uses a different RTSP URL path. Select your camera brand for exact URL patterns, default ports, and ONVIF paths:

Frequently asked questions

What is the default Hikvision camera password?

Hikvision cameras ship with factory default credentials that must be changed on first setup. Do not use default credentials on any network-connected device — change your password in the camera web interface immediately. See the security guidance above for step-by-step instructions.

How do I reset a Hikvision camera password?

To reset a forgotten Hikvision password, locate the physical reset button on the camera (usually a small pinhole). Hold for 10-15 seconds to factory reset. After reset, set a new strong password immediately — do not leave the camera at factory defaults.
