What happens when you probe a stream

When you submit a stream or camera URL to CamCheck, StreamTest, or the RTSP→HLS bridge, our probe server opens a brief connection to that URL, reads the stream headers (codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate), and disconnects. No video frames are recorded or stored. Probe results store technical metadata only.

Credentials in stream URLs

Some camera URLs include a username and password. Credentials are used only to connect to your stream during the probe. They are never published: shareable StreamTest reports show codec, bitrate, and connectivity data without exposing your stream path or credentials, bridge playback URLs never contain them, and stored monitor URLs are sanitized with query parameters stripped before they are saved.

Free bridge previews

RTSP→HLS bridge previews are short-lived and expire automatically after a bounded window. Nothing from the relayed stream is retained after teardown.

Accounts and cookies

The free tools work without an account. If you create an account for Pro monitoring, we store your email address and use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Payments

Paid plans are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never stored on StreamProbe servers.

Analytics

We may use self-hosted, cookie-free analytics (Umami) to count page visits. It does not build cross-site profiles or share data with third parties.
