Frequently asked questions

How do I get the RTSP URL from a WiFi IP camera?

WiFi cameras use the same RTSP URL format as wired cameras — the connection protocol (WiFi vs Ethernet) does not change the RTSP URL. Find the camera IP address in your router's client list or the camera app, then use the brand-specific RTSP path. Enable RTSP in the camera settings if not active by default.

Is RTSP streaming over WiFi reliable?

RTSP over WiFi can drop frames or disconnect on a congested 2.4 GHz band. For reliable streaming, use 5 GHz WiFi and keep the camera within range of the access point. For critical surveillance, wired PoE is always preferred over WiFi.
